What is geocaching?

Geocaching is a worldwide, modern-day, scavenger hunt. Utilizing GPS technology, players navigate to a certain location and search for a container that is hidden within the environment. Players have access to information about the cache including its size, its difficulty, the terrain rating, previous logs written by other players who either have found the geocache or couldn't find it and more to help in the search. Inside every geocache is a logbook. Once the container has been located, the player must sign their name on the logbook to show that they truly found the geocache. There may also be trinkets in the geocache that players may exchange. The general rule is if you take something, you must leave something of equal or higher value.
Geocaches can be located in almost every public outdoor space. This includes the woods, the beach, local parks, green spaces, parking lots, and more. Additionally, geocaches can be placed on private property if permission is granted by the property owner.
Geocaching is an exciting way to explore your local surroundings and discover places you may not know about. Geocaching can be a guide for exploring your local area or a whole new destination. There is so much variety to geocaching that the fun never stops!
